No, you cannot take BSc Microbiology without studying Biology as a core subject. Under this program, you'll study most subjects around Biology such as Microbial Ecology, Virology, Molecular Biology, Mycology, Cell Biology, Enzyme Technology, and more. Since you don't have the foundational knowledge of Biology in your high school, pursuing a BSc in Microbiology will not only limit your knowledge but also your career prospects.

Under NEP-2020, students of the B.Sc. Bio group may even opt for subjects of the B.Sc. Maths group, thus allowing inter-disciplinarity in education. The policy allows flexibility where students would be allowed to mix and match subjects across streams. That is, while continuing studies leading to a B.Sc. degree in Biology, a student is also able to take any subjects like Mathematics or Physics from the Maths group in order to provide a personal, holistic academic experience. This, however, is contingent on the structure of the programme and the availability of subjects within an institution. NEP 2020 breaks stiff boundaries between disc
