As per the eligibility criteria of Elphinstone College Mumbai; A student passing the H. S. C. Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Mumbai Divisional Board in the SIX subjects specified below or from another equivalent Board of Secondary Education or any other statutory examining body, is eligible for admission to the First Year of the Senior college in Arts / Science/Commerce Course. The details of subjects are given below.
1. English
2. Any one of the Modern Indian Languages (Marathi/ Hindi)
3. Any four of the optional subjects for Arts, Sciences and Commerce courses as specified by the H. S. C. Board, Pune. So from above the Marathi/ Hindi are compulsory in 12th if wants to take admission here.

B.Sc Student in biotechnology or any other biological sciences related fields, it is highly recommended that you pursue your M.Sc. The job opportunities for B.Sc. Graduates in a highly research oriented field such as biotechnology are very less and most students tend to pursue their M.Sc. In biotechnology or a specialised discipline of biotechnology. India is home to some excellent M.Sc. Programs such as JNU, DU, IISc, TIFR, IITs, etc. With an M.Sc. Degree, most students tend to work in research labs and industries as research assistants. The pay package is also quite less for M.Sc. Graduates. Since India is still developing, it is highly recommended that you do your M.Sc. In a reputed institution for good campus placements and job opportunities. If your university is not reputed, the chances of any biotech company coming for placements will be zero.
