Birsa Institute of Technology (BIT Sindri) is a Public Institute controlled and managed by the Department of Science & Technology, government. Of Jharkhand, Ranchi. The Institute was established in the year 1949 and is affiliated to Vinoba Have University (VBU). BIT Sindri is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Courses offered by the Institute are B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. BIT Sindri Admission will be done on the basis of entrance exams: JCECE (for B.Tech) and GATE (for M.Tech).

You can take lateral entry. For that, you have to submit a NOC issued from past college and migration certificate. Admission will be allotted in that case when their is any vacant seat in respective year and branch.

Almost, every institute offers admission for lateral entry same as Birsa Institute of Technology do. BIT conducts separate exam for that and the number of seats through lateral entry in all branches are 10% of the normal seats.
