BITS Pilani does not have any reservation policy for OBC or any other category. The admission is purely based on merit and the score obtained in BITSAT, the entrance exam conducted by BITS Pilani. The JEE Mains rank is not considered for admission to BITS Pilani.The cutoff for B.Tech CSE at BITS Pilani is very high, as it is one of the most sought-after courses. The cutoff for the year 2023 was 320 out of 390 marks in BITSAT. BITS Pilani improved its international ranking from 1001-1200 to 951 - 1000 as per the QS World University Rankings 2024. It has also been ranked 194 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2023. NIRF ranking depends on a lot of factors, you can not solely depend on NIRF ranking while choosing a college NIRF depends upon - Teaching, Infrastructure, Placements, Research opportunity. But you should SEE what your priorities are and what course are you going to pursue there, but BITS is far better than VIT in ALL RESPECTS if you are getting BIT's must go for it. Great infrastructure, Placements, Brand value on top.

IITs are the best. Based on yours JEE Advanced rank, you can get the following IITs.
1. IIT Mandi (Civil and Engineering Physics)
2. IIT Bhubaneswar (Civil and MSE)
3. IIT Gandhi Nagar (Chemical, Civil, Mech and MSE)
4. IIT Guwahati (Chemical, Civil and Mech)
5. IIT Indore (Civil and Mech).

If this is your rank in JEE Advanced under general category then you can get mechanical engineering in an IIT. You may not get IIT Bombay, Madras, etc. but you may get Mandi, Jammu, etc.
These are also good IITs and they are better to study.
BITS Pilani is really costly so if you get any IIT then drop BITS Pilani. If you can take loan and if you don't want an average IIT then go for BITS Pilani.
