No, it is not necessary for students to have studied the Humanities stream to pursue the BMM programme. Students with good verbal and written communication skills, an interest in the field of news and events, critical and analytical bent of mind are all that need to be suitable for studying BMM. Candidates' performance on the admission exam determines whether they will be accepted into one of India's top BMM universities. Before applying for the course, candidates must note that they must look at the eligibility requirements. The following are a few of the requirements for admission to BMM course in India:The applicant must have completed Class 12 or an equivalent test from a recognised board in either the Arts,  Science, or Commerce streams.The candidates' qualifying exam score total must be at least 50%.If a candidate falls under one of the following categories: physically impaired, scheduled caste, or scheduled tribe, they may request a 5% overall aggregate relaxation.

As per UGC NET 2019 Eligibility you are not eligible on the basis of B. M. degree only. The detailed eligibility criteria is as under.
1. Age:- He/ she must not be more than 28 years as on January 1, 2019 for applying for Junior Research Fellowship. A relaxation of up to 5 years is provided for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

Bachelor Degree admission is done on the basis of 12th. But I do not think there is any Lateral Entry process for Mass Comm. If you have a Migration Case where you have already done the first year and want to join the second year, you need to find colleges for that.

Yes. You are eligible. You need to clear an entrance test of BMM from the college you are targeting. 12th marks do not matter. Terms and conditions differ for each college.
