VELS School of Maritime Studies offers a 4-Year (8 Semester) Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) course in Marine Engineering. The minimum eligibility criteria involve the following:A candidate must pass 10+2 or its equivalent Examinations with a minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics groups.The candidate must have also secured at least 50% in English at the 10th or 12th Standard.The interested candidate must be of maximum 25 years of age on the date of commencement of the course. The candidate must also fulfill the medical standard. One should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms with minimum unaided vision in each eye to be 6/12, and with no colour blindness.Admission to B.E. in Marine Engineering is based on merit and also on the percentage of marks secured in the qualifying national-level examination, the Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMUCET) together with 10+2 marks. 

The following are the requirements for Siliguri Institute of Technology's B.Tech programme:The intermediate (10+2) exam or its equivalent must have been passed by the candidates.With mathematics and physics as mandatory disciplines, a minimum of 45% in each subject is needed.Additionally, candidates need to have taken one of the following courses: biology, biotechnology, chemistry, or technical vocational courses.The minimum score needed for applicants in reserved categories (such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD) in all of the aforementioned topics combined is 40%.Candidates must have received at least 30% in the English portion of the "10+2" exam.The relevant State or Federal governments must acknowledge the qualifications examination board.
