It is doubtful that an applicant with a JEE Mains score in the 48th percentile will be admitted to a prestigious university like NIT or IIT. However, some colleges do admit candidates from lower percentiles. Pallavi Engineering College, Terna Engineering College, and Seacom Skills University are some of the options. Additionally, you might look at private institutions like Vellore Institute of Technology and SRM Institute of Science and Technology, which might have management quotas available, or state-level engineering universities. To increase your chances of being accepted, you are encouraged to take part in state counseling.

With 89% in Class 12, admission to NITs or IIITs depends on your JEE Main score and rank. While your percentage is good, securing a seat in top NITs or IIITs will depend on your JEE rank. You may have better chances in less competitive branches or institutes.
