The BTech stream-wise placement data has not been made public by the university. Based on the aggregate data presented in the NIRF report 2024, 199 students were placed at the Calcutta University BTech placements in 2023, out of 289 total. The placement rate is now 69% as a result. Previously, in 2022, 305 out of 357 BTech graduates found employment.

Calcutta University does have entrance exams for certain programs:For admission to MA, MSc, MCom, MBA, and LLM programs, students must take the Calcutta University Entrance Test.For PhD programs, Calcutta University conducts a Research Eligibility Test (RET).For admission to the BA LLB 5-year program, Calcutta University requires candidates to take an entrance exam.However, for undergraduate (UG) programs like BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BTech, and BCA, admission is based on academic merit and there is no separate entrance exam required.

Candidates must meet the minimal eligibility standards as stated in the course requirements in order to be considered for admission to Calcutta University. The University primarily uses merit to determine admission to undergraduate programs; however, for some other programs, it also takes scores from national and state entrance tests, including JEE Main and CAT, as well as WBJEE. In addition, the university administers the Calcutta University Entrance Exam, which is an internal admission test. Prior to completing the application form, prospective students must be eligible for the relevant entrance tests.
