The criteria is the same as for the CBSE students. You have to obtain minimum 50% marks to be eligible, but better once read the prospectus provided by AIIMS, if the percentage has changed or not, and if you have any category quota then there are some relaxations also.

You can buy second hand book or avail them online. Basically, you should be able to solve the exercises. Though it is said that the papers are based on NCERTS the level hugely differs. The CBSE students also practice from other books and then solve NCERTS. So, you don't need to worry about this. Just practice. You can also visit aim4aiims which is an AIIMS alumni initiative.
