Taking a gap year is a pretty normal practice worldwide although it's looked down upon in Asia. Regardless, the English proficiency tests will also consider the best scores you submit as you official scores and giving multiple attempts in IELTS and GRE shows dedication that you strive to improve your score. However, with the recent changes, the score barrier has gone up and certain people find it difficult to achieve the same. A better alterative would be to enroll in some form of study which would then allow you to scale up to a PR and a job opportunity in Canada. GRE and IELTS are both requirements for any form of study you wish to pursue. However, in case of a proper work opportunity, you would still require IELTS as the English Proficiency test. With the recent changes, the score barrier has gone up and certain people find it difficult to achieve the same. It is possible to get but not guaranteed because of your low marks. Don't be discouraged, just apply online at different universities.
