CAT (Common Admission Test) is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (Iims) for admission to postgraduate management programs. The exam aims to provide equal opportunities to all candidates, including Persons with Disabilities (PwD). Here are some facilities provided to PwD candidates in the CAT exam:
Extra Time: PwD candidates are provided with an additional 20 minutes for each section of the exam. Scribe/Reader: PwD candidates who have a visual or writing disability are provided with the option of availing the services of a scribe/reader. The scribe/reader will be a student of Class 10th or above, who does not have any immediate family member taking the CAT exam. Wheelchair Accessible Test Center: CAT exam centers are designed to be accessible to candidates with disabilities. Wheelchair ramps and accessible restrooms are available in all centers. Assistance during the exam: PwD candidates are provided with necessary assistance during the exam. The assistance can be in the form of a wheelchair, magnifying screen, or any other device required by the candidate. Separate Room: PwD candidates can request a separate room for the exam. The room will be equipped with necessary facilities required by the candidate. Compensatory Time: PwD candidates with a locomotor disability or cerebral palsy are eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour. It is important to note that PwD candidates must submit a valid disability Certificate to avail of these facilities. The disability Certificate should be issued by a competent authority and should be valid as of the date of the CAT exam.

The Indian Institutes of Management (Iims) offer various management courses through the Common Admission Test (CAT). CAT is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by the Iims on a rotational basis for admission to their management programs. Here are the courses offered by Iims through CAT:

Post Graduate programme in Management for Working Executives (PGPWE) - This is a part-time programme offered by some Iims for working professionals. Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) - This is a two-year full-time programme offered by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur, and ISI Kolkata jointly. Apart from these courses, some Iims also offer specialised management programs in areas such as public policy, agribusiness management, digital and social media marketing, sports management, and entrepreneurship, among others.

CAT 2023 notification will be released on July 31, 2023. The CAT notification will be released at the IIMCAT website and in all national newspapers. CAT notification is a PDF document which will contain all the details related to the exam such as, CAT 2023 exam, registrations and admit card download dates, CAT eligibility criteria, reservation criteria details, test centres, registration fees, courses offered, CAT result process, CAT admission process, etc. It will also contain brief information about CAT registration process, CAT exam pattern and marking scheme, CAT exam timings, CAT tutorials, CAT registration process, form correction guidelines and courses offered by all Iims. The CAT conducting authorities have provided a comprehensive list of forbidden objects that are not permitted to be brought to the CAT exam centre. These are the items: Bags, mobile phones, calculators, IPADs, IPODs, Bluetooth headsets, digital wrist watches, laptop computers, and cameras are not permitted within the CAT test hall. Carry no electronic equipment, such as beepers, electronic devices, or scanners. Candidates who have a metal implant, pacemaker, or other medical device in their body must present a medical Certificate to the CAT exam centre. Metal jewellery is not permitted to be worn by candidates. Candidates are not permitted to wear boots, metal headpins, or clips within the test hall after the frisking point. Carry no pencil boxes into the examination hall. Candidates must make their own personal belonging arrangements at the CAT exam centre.

IIM CAP is a common selection process for newer Iims. Under the CAP candidates eligible for admission to the nine new Iims - IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Kashipur, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Jammu, IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy and IIM Udaipur are shortlisted for What-PI round by a single IIM, the one who is given the responsibility to conduct the CAP round in a particular academic year. CAT cut offs, admission parameters and their weightage are same for all CAP Iims. The participating Iims send the list of candidates shortlisted by them for the What-PI process to the institute conducting CAP. The CAP conducting IIM conducts the What-PI round for all the participating Iims. The IIM CAP conducting institute then share the What-PI scores and results of the candidates with the participating institutes. Those institutes then prepare the final shortlist for admission. Those who are selected for admission are informed by the Iims via email. The offer of admission is sent to selected candidates which they have to accept within the given time limit. Written Ability Test or WAT is a 30-minute essay-writing test on topics from fields like socio-political, economic and business affairs, sports, etc. PI refers to Personal Interview held on the same day as WAT. The WAT-PI round of all IIMs is conducted after CAT result declaration. The shortlisting for WAT-PI is done on the basis of CAT cut off, which is fixed by the institutes. The IIM cut offs range between 95-100 percentile, which means candidates scoring in this range get shortlisted for WAT-PI. The CAT cut offs for Reserved category students are lower. In the WAT round, candidate has to write a short essay of about 250 words on a given topic. The topics can be from any field. For example, one candidate at IIM Ahmedabad got 'writer was facing some health issues, he got cured because of laughing' as a WAT topic this year. The purpose of Written Ability Test is to assess the candidate's general awareness, clarity of ideas and ability to make a convincing argument. The Personal Interview or PI is all about personality assessment. In PI, a panel of professors and admission officials meet the candidates one by one. They assess the on their knowledge, confidence, communication skills, managerial skills and leadership qualities, etc.

CAT mock tests are a replica of the actual CAT exam. It is so because the purpose of the mock test is to prepare the candidate for a speed based test which requires quick decision making and quick calculation with 100 per cent accuracy. This can be achieved only if the candidates has been in such an environment multiple times. In the CAT mock test, candidate has to solve equal number of questions as the CAT exam, in the same time limit. This, helps them in mastering the art of solving 66 questions in 120 minutes with much ease and confidence. The CAT mock tests have questions of same or higher difficulty level than the actual exam.
