You can go for other tests like CMAT and MAT. This can improve your chances of getting some better colleges. Otherwise, there are some colleges that take direct admissions too.

No, it is not too early to start preparations for the CAT 2022 exam. There are many good IIMS, IITs, and other private institutes that provide admission to the students in an MBA degree programme based on their CAT exam percentile. Let me enlist a few good institutes names for the MBA degree that consider the CAT exam for an MBA.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi
Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon
Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar
Symbiosis Management Institute (SMI), Pune
University of Delhi (DU), Delhi
I hope this helps.

The major part of CAT preparation is mock tests. Try practising mocks as much as possible. Keep your strong points on tips and work on weaker areas. Also, don't try to cover everything on the syllabus. Skip the portion that seems very hard. Try reading news articles. This will improve your VARC section and will prepare you for GDs. Learn about different methods and tricks of solving a problem. Work on your time management and don't stress.
