Yes, you can join the MBA programme at Farook Institute of Management Studies (FIMS) without taking the CAT. While the institute primarily considers scores from the Common Admission Test (CAT), it also accepts scores from other entrance exams such as the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) and the Kerala Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) for admission.Candidates must have a valid score in any of these exams to be eligible for the MBA program. The admission process also includes a group discussion and a personal interview, along with consideration of the candidate's academic record and work experience, if applicable.

The syllabus for CAT and TANCET are quite similar but has only one key difference. Though both exams cover the same core quantitative ability, verbal ability and reading comprehension, and data interpretation & logical reasoning sections. You can definitely use CAT study material for these sections in your TANCET preparation. However,  TANCET has an additional section called "Analysis of Business Situations" which is not present in the CAT exam.
