The UPSC conducts the National-level Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam to choose candidates who wish to join the Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Air Force Academy (AFA). The CDS I 2025 exam has its scheduled date set as April 13, 2025 while the CDS II 2025 takes place once every year. All aspiring candidates need to meet age criteria of 19-24 years for IMA selection while candidates for INA must fall within 19-22 years and applicants for AFA must be between 19-23 years. To qualify for the role applicants need a graduate degree from any field of study. The application fee is INR 200 for general candidates but female and SC and ST candidates can apply without charge. The recruitment follows four major steps: written exam and Services Selection Board interview along with document verification and medical assessment.
