For instance, a UG Diploma in Information Technology requires 55% of the marks from a recognised board in the 12th grade, with maths being a required subject. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India, founded the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Gangtok, as one of its units. To increase employment prospects and provide quality labor at a reasonable cost, the institute provides training and educational services.NIELIT Gangtok currently offers close to 20 UG and PG, short-term and non-formal courses. Short-term courses are available at NIELIT Gangtok to promote digital literacy and improve people's IT knowledge. All year round, the institute accepts applications for its short-term courses. Press announcements (Sikkim Express, Hamro Prajashakti, Dainik Jagran, etc.) and the center's website are occasionally used to announce admittance. Candidates may apply directly for admission if they fulfill the requirements for that particular course.
