Chemical Engineering

Dear Rajendra, I feel you should go for chemical engineering, as it has many openings in India as well abroad. Though it is not a new branch, it has picked up tremendously these days as a result of which many reputed universities like VIT, LPU, SRM, etc. Have started offering it. They have their different criteria for admissions. Some offer admission on basis of JEE scores, some offer admission on basis of their own tests and some offer admission on the basis of both. Some even offer direct admission on basis of class 12th marks. Some of the universities also offer scholarships on basis of your performance in class 12th or JEE or even during the course. All these universities have wonderful infrastructure and world-class facilities to offer to students apart from good placements. Good luck.

Put it this way;
A chemical engineer is in the laboratory developing a new drug for BioX Pharmaceuticals. His team has been at work some time now trying to synthesize the new drug, and finally one day has a breakthrough. After patenting, having the medical scientists perform trials, and getting the FDA to approve the new drug BioX decides to put it into production. The engineer, working alongside other engineers, may develop an automatic system to manufacture the drug. Someone has to monitor the manufacturing system; programme the machines, make sure they are working well, and replace the chemicals needed to manufacture the drug. That's where the Technologist comes in and that's what they do, depending on the level of their education. Some techs may just programme or maintain the machines and chemicals. Others are in management positions, sales, and applied engineering. Still, others may work as lab assistants to the engineers. Working the instruments, setting up experiments, and collecting data. This is what most chem techs probably do.

According to your question, it looks like you want everything quick and fast. Well, chemical engineering is a good option. While applying for private institute you have yo be careful have a research regarding placement. If you get selected in campus interview then there is no need for you to run here and there for a job. In case you don't get placed then you have options like Reliance, Asian paints, IOCL, Shell, Total, Petrobras, etc. You have to apply on your own which is a bit long process. You can get a job in these companies if vacancies are available. As competition in the chemical engineering field is pretty high. So, be prepared and work hard.
