The eligibility for joining merchant navy is finishing class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates have to be unmarried Indian citizens (male or female). Normal vision is required but glasses up to plus or minus 2.5 may be allowed. Admission is through an entrance followed by a screening test and a main written examination. Those candidates who have secured at least 55% marks or a grade point average of 2.4 out of 4 in B.Tech (Chemical Engg.) degrees are only eligible to write the entrance test.

APSET 2018 Eligibility:
APSET 2018 eligibility criteria which aspirants need to fulfill in order to be eligible to appear for the entrance exam is as mentioned below:
Candidates should have secured minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Masteru2019s degree or equivalent exam from any university/college that is recognised by UGC. Aspirants belonging to reserved categories such as OBC (non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PwD are eligible to apply if they have secured minimum 50% aggregate marks in their Masteru2019s degree or equivalent exam.
