Abdul, it would be your aptitude and your flair for the subject which would matter more in the selection. However IT for me would be preferable unless I have plans to set myself up in middle east countries in Petroleum sector in the early part of my career.

You can apply for B.Tech in any branch bit you have to clear an entrance test however some colleges also offer lateral entry to second year B.Tech. Among government colleges IITs and some NITs have chemical engineering but they offer admission on the basis of your entrance marks. Among. private college you may visit the website of Galgotis University for chemical engineering
