Town planning is also called as urban planning. It's really a good career to pursue. The educational requirements to become an urban planner can vary from employer to employer. Typically, the minimum requirement to get an entry-level job in urban planning is a Bachelor's degree in urban planning or a related degree such as geography, economics, political science, engineering or environmental studies.

The work profile of town planner is really hectic. Being the town planning officer you have to work in a very diversified area. Your major work profile will be of developing the park in a sustainable way. Redesigning the street structures, creating energy efficient and affordable homes (generally by using the solar power). Timely submission of the status reports to higher management to seek guidance and hearing concern. Nowadays, the challenges are occurring in this field because of lack of knowledge and lack of sufficient work experience in this sector. 1) Government Sector: Planners are employed by Development Authorities for making Master Plans, Land Use Plans and Development Plans. Apart from Development Authorities there is Town and Country Planning Department known as TCP department under state government. It can be a part of development authority, municipality or a separate division in itself. You might have heard of Planning Commission. Now NITI Aayog which made policies for development through 5 year plans, they also recruited planners. In addition to this municipal corporation also employ planners.
