About the exam
IAS - Indian Administrative Service Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) every year in a pan-Indian basis.
Eligible for courses
After taking the exam, you will be eligible for Indian Administrative Services and will be allocated services.
Eligibility Criteria
For Indian Administrative Service, a candidate should be a citizen of India.
Candidate should be between 21 – 30 years (both inclusive) as on the date mentioned under the UPSC examination notification.
Candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university or a deemed university.

First of all Ashish I would suggest that you read the discussion posts on https://shiksha.com on this subject as there you will get complete information on UPSC exams & it would enhance your knowledge. However, to repeat in short, you need to be in the age bracket of 21 to 30 years and must be at least a graduate from UGC recognized university for being eligible for UPSC exams which are helpd every year (both prelims & Mains and Interview). Thse are not IAS exams as you can also get into IPS and many allied services through tis exam. These are called UPSC exams.

Hi,
UPSC examination is conducted every year and on the basis of this examination a number of IAS, IPS, IFS officers are recruited.
To be eligible :
- You need to pass graduation in any field from any recognized university.
- You are eligible if you are in the final year of graduation.
- Your age must be between 21 to 30 years. 3 and 5 years of relaxation for OBC and SC/ST respectively.
- You must be an Indian citizen.

Eligibility-
An Indian National Citizen
A graduate in any discipline from a recognized university and
In the age limit of 21-30 years
So it is suggestible that you pick a degree course through lateral entry and then proceed with Civil services.
It is also advisable that you pick bachelors's degree program now and by the end of 3rd year, pick coaching for the IAS/KAS exam
*Till the time you join a professional coaching institute, I would advice you for self preparation.
For general awareness,you should read the daily newspaper and even watching the news will help.
You could also use magazines such as CSR, Competition Master, Banking Service

1. Nationality
-For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India.
-For the Indian Revenue Service, a candidate must be one of the following:

4. Physical Standard-
Height – 165 cm
Chest – Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm
Eye sight – 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction is by lenses
