Hello,
PCS is very easy when compared to IAS.
State PCS examination is not very dynamic (unlike UPSC CSE which has become very unpredictable and dynamic). So, chances of getting selected in State PCS is more if one has worked hard.
Good luck.

If you want to crack IAS exam then you should choose BA because with BA, you don't need to study hard, you can easily pass out with BA without much effort, but if you will choose B.Sc then you need to study hard and you'll not get time for IAS preparations.

A Scoring Optional:
Most IAS beginners choose an optional simply because it is considered scoring. Some of the optionals that are considered scoring are Public Administration and Geography. While Geography has returned marks with 400+ in IAS Mains, many candidates have been scoring 340+ and 350+ in Public Administration in the past few years. In fact the average marks scored by Mains candidates in Pub Ad in 2008 Mains was 266 which is quite high considering that it is the most preferred optional among IAS aspirants. But should score be the sole criteria for selecting the Mains optional or are there other related for selecting your Mains

Dear Deekhsita,
It is difficult to pursue two courses at the same time especially when they are totally different from each other. See what you want to become in your life- an actress or an IAS officer and then do specialisation in that particular field.
Good luck.

You can only give IAS exam, once you have done your graduation. For that, you have to qualify your class 12th exam too. So, first you have to clear your supplementary exam, then only you can go for IAS after your graduation. All the best.

Hi Priti,
Yes, you can. The UPSC eligibility criteria want you to be a graduate in any stream. But, do give it a thought why you want to pursue fashion and then become an IAS. It gets quite contradictory.

BA is better. You will have a choice to choose optional subjects. It is better you choose History, Political Science, Geography, etc., subjects. Even you can do B.Sc, but BA is better. You will be having much time to prepare for IAS if you choose BA.
All the best.

Mostly, general knowledge. You don't need to have expertise knowledge in any field if you are a avid reader of papers. Though basic knowledge of law is required if you want high marks.
