Yes, I think BA will be fine as there are multiple options for you as in you can:
1. Do Masters and then get into Teaching as a Lecturer in a College/University
2. Do B.Ed and become a School Teacher
3. Prepare for Various government. , exams and get a government job.
4. Crack UPSC-CSE
5. Learn some computer course and join some small firm.

Hi Sakshi, Good to know you want to become a UPSC officer but you must know that None of your graduation subjects will matter in the path of UPSC. The only thing that matters is you can opt for Civil Engineering as a subject but CSE is not available there as a subject. If you wanna know more comment here.

You can go for History or political science Hons. They deals with much knowledge of background and may brush up all your general knowledge.

No graduation is required. You should also get 50 percent minimum in graduation for writing Civil service.

For IAS, it's not necessary that you have to choose any one particular stream. It only requires graduation from a recognised university. It's Indian Engineering Services that you require some specific engineering branches which are Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Electronics and here computer Science does not come under IES. For IAS if you are a graduate that will be enough to appear.

For IAS exams, BA is a good option, because it covers almost all the subjects and syllabus for Preliminary exams i.e. CSAT and Mains. Although, questions from Science and Maths are also been asked, but they can be prepared as the course is not much wide. During your BA course, you can prepare for IAS simultaneously.

To become an IAS officer, you can select any stream in which you are good and you have interest. To clear UPSC exams, you have to prepare well from the beginning of your graduation itself. This is one of the toughest exams of India. Just choose your stream according to your interest and in which you are best.
