Hi
Civil services can be done with any stream. There are basically three stages of civil service exams-:
1) For preliminary –
a. First subject is general studies (GK+ current events + logistic aptitude + reasoning + all subjects studied till class 10th).
b. Second subject is optional (your favourite subject of any stream syllabus till class 10th level).
2) For Mains exam also: subjects are English or Hindi and two optional subjects.
So you can choose your subjects in 11th as per your liking and interest.

You are on the right path. You can do it from any college of your choice. Most of the rank holders in IAS are social science graduates. Start preparing for IAS, keep reading newspapers for current affairs, solve mathematical and logical reasoning questions and GK.

If you want to appear for Civil Services Examination, you can choose any subject of your preference in which you are confident of excelling. Civil Services exam is very tough with limited seats. Therefore, you must chose your subject carefully. Nowadays, most of the civil services aspirants go for engineering so that they have an alternate career available if they are not able to crack Civil Services examination.
