To become an IAS officer you have to appear in Civil Service Exam.
The Civil Service Examination is organized by UPSC every year to recruit candidate for IAS, IPS etc.
You can choose any subject as per your interest.
Subjects like Public Administration and History can be chosen.
Along with this, you need to have a command on General Knowledge and latest current affairs.
The Civil Services Examinations are held in two phases - the first is called the CSAT which replaces the Preliminary Examination (Prelims). This has 2 papers - the general studies and general aptitude paper.The second Main Examination (Mains). After that, there is the Personality Test or Viva-Voce before the final selection. Graduates can take the entrance examination .

Capability to assess the mood of the people

Syllabi for the Examination:I. Prelims:Paper I (General Studies)(200 marks) - Duration: Two Hours
• Current events of national and international importance.
• History of India and Indian national movement.
• Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world.
• Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayat raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc.
• Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc.
• General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change-that do not require subject specialization.
• General science.
Paper II (CSAT) (200 marks) – Duration: Two Hours
• Comprehension.
• Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
• Decision making and problem solving.

• Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level).

Hi, first of all appreciating your idea to become a IAS officer. To become IAS officer you have write UPSC exam after your degree. You can do any degree depend on your interest. UPSC exam is a combined exam for the various govt officials like IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS ect,. Your position will be determined with your marks and your interest. You have to write UPSC preliminary exam after your degree. Its a objective type exam. If you clear in that then next level exam is main exam. Its a written exam. And then finally personal interview. Since its a most competitive exam its better to start your preparation day by day. You have to basically concentrate on current affairs. General knowledge. And aptitude. Reading 6th std to 12th std books in CBSE pattern will be a lot helpful. All the best for your success !

Academic Qualification:
The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in any field from a well known college or university.
Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the Commission's examination but have not been informed of the results as also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination.
-Age Limits:
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, in the year of examination.
Number of attempts:
Every candidate appearing at the examination who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted four attempts at the examination.
However, your passion in a particular subject and your caliber for attaining the highest level of specialization, will eventually lead to a phenomenal career path.
I would therefore suggest you to consider your skills and strengths to boost your career plans.
You can take CPT test.Once you clear that, you can start preparing for CA inter exam and on the other hand you can pursue B.ComI also.
Any University has no objection in doing CA along with graduation course.
After passing your 12th you can enroll for CA and graduation at same.
In this way you'll save your time and will complete the course in shorter period of time.

Selection Process
The Civil Services Exam is a paper based test and consists of two successive stages:
(i) CSAT (Objective type) comprising 2 exams : General Studies
(ii) Civil Services Main Examination (Written and Interview)
CSAT-Prelim:
-Paper 1 is on General Studies
This includes areas like
Indian National Movement, Indian Polity, Basic Economic Understanding, Geography
While the dynamic part includes current affairs, GK and has no proper definition and syllabus making quite vast.
-Paper 2 includes mathematics, reasoning, analytical ability, and interpersonal skills. Unlike paper 1 which has a static part, paper 2 is dynamic in many sense.
The Main exam will consist of :

IAS Preparation Strategies
General Strategy:
1. Familiarity with the optional syllabi: Get yourself well informed about the content of the syllabi and the topics it covers.
2. Thorough insight of the question papers: Go through the question papers of past ten years to identify the pattern and select the topics which are asked very frequently. Simultaneously, identify those topics which are particularly useful for conventional essay type questions.
3. Selection of books: It is advisable not to go through a lot of books, instead go through one quality book on each topic which clarifies your basic concept.
4. Prefer you own notes: A well crafted note solves two purposes. On the one hand the aspirant goes through the syllabus once and on the other hand it is of immense help on the eve of examination.
