It comprises 2 MCQ-based papers that are conducted on a single day. General studies paper 1, consists of 100 questions of 2 marks each. General Studies paper 2 (CSAT) consists of 80 questions of 2.5 marks each. However, CSAT is a qualifying paper. The UPSC exam pattern for the Mains stage consists of 9 papers conducted over 5 to 7 days. When you preparing for UPSC you need to read every thing in a syllabus but a big part of UPSC is related to history and modern history so it's useful if you chose arts and learn every thing then you need to only revice the syllabus and you save time in completing syllabus
