While Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting & Finance (BAF) is a course that provides training in the areas of accounting and finance, Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) course focuses on the area of management and business studies. These courses deal with different subject areas with varied future prospects.
A Bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting aims to equip a graduate with knowledge in areas like Financial accounting, IT, Cost accounting, Auditing, Business communications, Taxation, Economics and Business Law.
Bachelor of Management Studies graduates are qualified to handle operations and managerial responsibilities with their expertise in areas like project development and management, information system strategies, emerging technologies, innovations in engineering and global product management.
BAF orients candidates in the area of finance and accounting only, where as BMS graduates can opt for a much wider array of specializations. BAF is a course suited for those with an active interest in the world of finance and accounting. Those who are more oriented towards management and business can choose BMS. Each course has its own advantages and disadvantages. But both have career opportunities and higher study options available. The only difference seems to be the broader scope with BMS compared to BAF, which is only in finance and accounting.
