Yes, you can easily get admission in the private colleges in whichever stream you want, even without giving any entrance exam, but for this they will charge you some extra fees.

It's nice to hear from you that you are interested in taking a year off for the preparation of JEE Mains. Yes, it's a good idea. I would like to advise you that join a coaching institute. One learns many things from our fellow students besides knowing different ways of studying the same subject. In addition, classes will invariably organise mock tests which are very useful ingredients in a successful attempt at JEE Mains.

There is no mandatory subject in HSC for pursuing law. You may opt for any stream whether science, commerce, arts or other and appear for law entrance. However, if you have realized that you have to pursue as a career, you may take commerce or arts in 10+2.
