Major difference between CAT and CMAT is of General Knowledge questions, CAT question paper does not include GK questions, on the other hand, CMAT has questions regarding GK, so you need to prepare for that additionally if appearing for CMAT for which you have to read daily newspaper and you can also refer Lucents general knowledge book. Other than that everything remains same and yes CMAT exam is quite easy then CAT paper, so you need not worry much regarding other things, if you are preparing hard for CAT you are definitely going to crack CMAT with a little preparation of GK, with a good score.

Hello!
Among the exams mentioned, CAT and XAT are comparatively tougher but many prominent B-schools across India accept their scores. With thorough and diligent preparation, both of them can be cracked. Give CMAT too since it is a bit easier than both CAT and XAT. There are not a lot of top-ranked colleges accepting MAT scores nowadays, so keep it only as a backup. Focus more on CAT/XAT and CMAT.

Yes, You should start as early as possible. CMAT basically tests a students knowledge of Quantitative Technique & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and General Knowledge. Almost all the topics covered in each section consists of elementary school subtopics. In order to have a pretty good score in CMAT one must score well in all the sections. Neglecting any one section is not an option here. However, one can choose to invest more time in a particular subtopic of a section than the other.
