The number of seats available in the CLAT 2023 counselling process is 5,824. This includes 4,306 seats for the UG programme and 1,518 seats for the PG programme. The seats are allocated to candidates based on their performance in the CLAT exam. The higher the candidate's score, the higher their chances of getting a seat in their preferred NLU. The CLAT counselling process is conducted in five rounds. In each round, candidates can choose up to 10 NLUs in order of preference. The NLUs will then release a list of candidates who have been shortlisted for admission. No, NLU Delhi accepts admission in UG and PG law degree courses only through AILET exam. CLAT scores are used for admissions to the 23 National Law Universities in India except NLU Delhi, as it is the only university that is not a part of Consortium of National Law Universities. Out of the 23 NLUs (National Law Universities) in India, 22 participate in Common Law Admission Test. NLU, Delhi is the only NLU that doesn't participate in it and accepts AILET scores. Many top private law colleges also accept CLAT scores for student intake. So, I guess it would be safe to say that the best law colleges in India admit students into their UG and PG programs based on Common Law Admission Test scores. If you want to get into the corporate law sector, the NLUs will be appropriate, as most of their students are recruited on campus by private companies. On the other hand, if you just want to be a lawyer, you can get into any law college and take the BCI (Bar Council of India) exam. However, I don't mean to say that the law colleges outside the Common Law Admission Test are not good enough. There are other exams that you can take to get admitted to good law colleges, like the AILET ISAT, MH-CET (a state-level law entrance exam), etc. And if you want to seek admission to private law colleges outside of the Common Law Admission Test, you can do that too.
