SHUATS conducts an online entrance test (SOET) for the selection of students to a few of the BSc courses. The 2025 schedule for the exam has not been released yet. However, based on previous year's schedules, SHUATS 2025 is expected to be conducted in the month of July. The registration process for the same generally starts in March and lasts till June.

SHUATS offers a total of 1250 seats for the BSc programme. The distribution of seats among various BSc specialisations varies. Some of the courses with notable seat intake are BSc (Hons) in Horticulture, BSc (Zoology, Botany, Chemistry),  BSc (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), and more. The the highest number of seats are reserved for the BSc (Hons) in Agriculture, i.e., 300.

SHUATS admissions for BSc (Hons) in Agriculture, BSSc (Hons) in Horticulture, and BSc (Hons) Forestry are subject to a valid score in the SHUATS Online Entrance Test (SOET), followed by the offline counselling process.For all the remaining BSc and BSc (Hons) courses, admission is subject to an online counselling process. In this process, seats are allocated based on merit in the last qualifying examination.
