A candidate already holding a PhD, degree in a discipline / subject specialisation is eligible to register for pursuing the mentioned degree in another discipline / subject specialisation subject to the fulfillment of the conditions stipulated for admission / registration in the present regulations.

If the candidate wants to apply for more than one Institution / College /University Department, he/she has to pay the application fee for each application. (For example, if the candidate belongs to OC/BC/MBC/DNC and willing to submit the application for three institutions, the aspirant has to pay the fee as INR 1000 * 3 = INR 3000).

The university has not specifically released the ranking for PhD. However, Bharathiar University is steadily securing good position in rankings among the top Universities in India. As per NIRF report 2023, the university stands at 21 position among Indian Universities and 36 position in the overall group, for the year 2023. As per Times Higher Education Ranking 2023, the University secured the position in the 801-1000 band. Among Indian Universities it stands at the 18 position.
