Yes, JEE Main is required for BTech at IIT Dhanbad. Candidates seeking admission at BTech course must qualify JEE Main, students selected further need to take JEE Advanced. Based on the score secured in JEE Advanced, students are called for JoSAA Counselling.

IIT Dhanbad is a government institute. It was established in 1926 and was formerly known as the Indian School of Mines before its conversion into an IIT. The institute provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes and the courses include BTech, MTech, MSc, MBA, Executive MBA, PhD, etc. under 18 departments.

IIT Dhanbad has released the 2023 placement report. A total of 1,154 job offers were distributed among the 1,082 students placed. Further, 234 PPOs were offered during IIT Dhanbad placements 2023, and 199 were accepted. The IIT Dhanbad average package stood at INR 16.98 LPA and the highest package offered was INR 56 LPA. This is an overall package offered in IIT Dhanbad. However, the placement rate for MBA students was 83.33%.

MBA is one of the popular courses of IIT ISM Dhanbad after BTech. If we consider the rankings, IIT Dhanbad MBA is ranked 44 under the 'Management' Category of NIRF Rankings 2023. Looking at the placements of IIT Dhanbad, the placement rate was 80.39% for MBA. Overall, the highest package was INR 50 LPA. Whereas, IIM Amritsar's NIRF ranking for 2023 is 51.
