The Central Universities Act of 2009, which founded the institution in 2007, was passed by the Indian Parliament. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted recognition to the university. The Central University of Gujarat, often known as CUG, received a "B+" mark from NAAC for accreditation. Pandit Deendayal Energy University, located in Gandhinagar and established by the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), is a university that specializes in energy education and research, particularly in the oil and gas sector.
