Admission to the MSc course is based on merit in IIT JAM followed by CCMN counselling. Candidates wanting to enrol for an MSc course must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria as per the course's requirements. Aspirants must have a Bachelor’s degree in the Science stream with a minimum of 55% aggregate from a recognised institution. Additionally, the pass certificate and mark sheets have to be presented at the time of admission as proof of eligibility for verification purposes.

The total tuition fee for M.Tech ranges between INR 1.1 Lacs - INR 1.7 lakh for Regular/QIP Students/Self-financed/Sponsored Students (Part-time/Full-time) who are serving as Teachers. In addition, there is no tuition fee for SC/ST/PwD category candidates. Candidates can visit the IITG official website (iitg.ac.in) for details related to the complete fee structure. In order to get admission to IIT Guwahati M.Tech course, candidates must apply and appear for GATE entrance exam. The GATE application process for IIT Guwahati admission 2024 has begun. Candidates seeking for appearing in GATE 2024 must apply till Sep 29, 2023. Further, the applications with late fees will remain open till Oct 13, 2023. Candidates can visit the official website of GATE to apply for the exam before passing the deadline.

The selection criteria for the M.Tech programme offered at IIT Guwahati comprises a valid GATE score followed by COAP counselling. The total tuition fee for the full-time BTech programme offered at IIT Guwahati is INR 8 lakh. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories are exempted from paying tuition fees. Further, the total course fee will include other components such as one-time admission fee (non-refundable), refundable caution deposits (refundable), annual insurance premium, and other important charges. NIRF ranked IIT Guwahati 7 under the “Engineering” category in 2023. According to media reports, a total of 712 students were placed till Dec 6 during IIT Guwahati placements 2024. Further, the highest international and domestic package offered during IIT Guwahati placements 2024 stood at INR 2.05 Crore per annum and INR 1.20 Crore per annum, respectively.

The admission shall exclusively be based on the performance of the candidate in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). However, to qualify for the admission, the candidate must have passed LL.B. Three Year / Five Year Integrated Degree Examination from any university whose degree is recognised by the University Grants Commission as well as by the NLUJAA, with 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities).
