For admission into B.Arch programs in NITs and GFTIs you need to write JEE Mains paper 2 and yes, you need to clear it with a high score.
To get B.Arch in IITs you need to appear for 4 exams namely JEE Mains papers 1 and 2, then you need to clear JEE advanced and then you need to clear AAT (architecture aptitude test).

NIRF Ranking : IITGN 30 NITH 51
ESTD. : IITGN 2008 NITH 2002, 1986(REC)

In terms of funds granted, IITs receive a far more than what NITs get. The quality of cultural and technical festivals conducted is somewhat better in IITGN compared to NIT Hamirpur.
Needless to say the brand value of an IIT is itself enough to take a step to join the institution. There is a joint course offered by CALTECH and IITGN on disruptive design on Indian Healthcare. This it

75% marks in +12 is required to get admission in NIT's and IIT's. Try looking for other good colleges which do not require the 75% criteria. Colleges which look for both JEE + board marks collectively.
Good luck!
