The university provides four-year BTech programmes, with admissions determined by an applicant's performance on the JEE Main Scores. To be eligible for admission to SMVDU Katra, a candidate must have qualifying results from either the JEE or CUET-UG. For both UG and PG courses, there is a set application fee of 1500 Rs.Admissions to Vaishno Devi University are granted on the basis of SMVDU or CCMT counselling.

SMVDU merit list is based on valid score of (CAT/MAT/Feb/May/CMAT 2024 along with score obtained in GD/PI in first phase. For vacant seats, score obtained in CUET (PG) 2024 by candidate along with score obtained in GD/PI will be considered. Cnadidates can apply online on the official website of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.

SMVDU admission process are both entrance and merit-based followed by counselling. SMVDU accepts the admission on the basis of CUET exam for most of the UG & PG courses.  For few courses such as BTech, MBA, M.Tech admission are based on JEE/CAT/MAT/GATE/CCMT.

SMVDU admits students based on the rank obtained in JEE/JOSAA/CSAB/UCEED for engineering programs and CUET-UG/CUET-PG for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Sciences, Management and Humanities. Admission in MBA programme will be based on CAT/MAT/CMAT/CUET score along with score obtained in GD/PI (CAT, 2023/MAT (Sept/. 2023/Dec.2023/Feb.2024/May, 2024/CMAT 2024 in first phase.In second phase for vacant seats in MBA programme CUET (PG) will be considered).
