At BIT Mesra, The Department of “Chemical Engineering” with well qualified faculty provides high standard of education in the diversified fields of Chemical Engineering. The Department has immense strength in the area of Polymer Engineering. The Department received national recognition by winning the Gold Trophy for Plasticon Award 2012 in the category of Best Educational Institution Contributing to Plastics. The Plasticon Award was conferred on 1st February 2012, at 8th International Plastics Exhibition and conference. The programme was supported by Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India. Faculty members are working on sponsored projects and collaborative research with various organizations. The Department is also recognized under DST-FIST.

Since its inception in 1955, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at BIT Mesra has a wide reputation for the quality of teaching and research it offers. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology was established in 1972 at BIT Mesra and is a robust scientific community with highly qualified and competent faculty members, postgraduate students, research fellows and visiting scientists. The Department is well-equipped with state of the art infrastructural facilities for teaching and research. The Department encourages and supports studies involving a range of research strategies which are supported by various national and international funding agencies like UGC, AICTE, DRDO, CSIR, ICAR, ICMR, DST, BMBF (Germany), UGC-UKIERI etc. The Department also has collaboration with Institute of Biochemistry, University of Luebeck, Germany; Laboratoire Architecture et Fonction des Macromelu00e9cules Biologiques, Du00e9partment de Viologie Structure et Drug Design, Marseille Cedex 09 France; De Montfort University, Leicester, UK and University of Turin, Italy, Department of Crystallography and Biophysics, University of Madras, Chennai, India for research in the area of antiviral agents.
