IIT Kanpur accepts JEE Advanced and JEE Main scores for admission to BTech. Admission to all the courses is based on scores obtained in the entrance examinations such as GATE, JEE3 JAM, CEED and CAT. Along with UG and PG courses, IIT Kanpur also offers PhD in various specialisations. Selection for the same is done based on GATE scores followed by a Written Test/ Personal Interview conducted by the institute.

Yes, it is possible to get admission in IIT Kanpur for BTech if your rank is around 5000. However, it will depend on the branch of engineering you are applying for B.Tech on which department your interested.

IIT Kanpur offers BTech admissions through JEE Advanced scores followed by JoSAA Counselling. There will around 6-7 rounds of JoSAA Counselling, hence around 6 JEE Advanced cutoffs will be released for admission to BTech. The cutoffs will be released on a rolling basis, and the seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The closing rank for IIT Kanpur BTech in Computer Science and Engineering was 237 for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission in IIT Kanpur - Indian Institute of Technology.

The cut off rank in Round 6 for BTech in Biological Science and Bioengineering is 8031 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Kanpur.
