Hostels at IIT Kharagpur are furnished with beds, tables, chairs, high-speed LAN ports, fans, lights and adequate electricity ports. The quantity of the aforementioned things may vary depending upon the occupancy of the room whether it’s single room, double sharing or triple occupancy sharing.Also, some halls (hostel is referred to as hall of residence at IIT Kharagpur and hostellers as boarders) have washing machine facilities and some don’t. Laundry service is available at a reasonable price.

IIT Kharagpur has one of the largest college campuses. It is even bigger than the IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur campuses combined. The IIT Kharagpur campus is spread across 8.5 km (2100 acres). IIT Kharagpur is located at a distance of 120 km from Kolkata. There are 21 halls or residences (hostels) at IIT Kharagpur out of which 16 are for boys and 5 are allocated for girls and approximately 10,000 students live on the campus.

The selection process of VGSOM admission to MBA is a two step process. The step one is on the basis of CAT scores where candidates are shortlisted for the further process of Personal Interview. For VGSOM there is no sectional cutoff, however, candidates must meet the overall MBA4 cutoff of 90 percentile for General category, 80 for NC-OBC Category and 75 each for SC, ST and PwD categories. The final VGSOM cutoff for the final admission is based on cumulative scores of the application ratings, performance score in CAT and performance of the candidate in Personal Interview.

VGSOM admission to Management courses including MBA is based of valid CAT scores. For VGSOM MBA admission, students must meet both the overall CAT cut off percentile and the sectional cut off. The cutoff trend for B.Tech at IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute of Technology has been increasing in the recent years. In 2022, the closing rank for B.Tech. under general category for all India quota was 526. In 2023, it increased to 632. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 326 to 345 for OBC, 143 to 175 for SC, 79 to 75 for ST, 102 to 111 for EWS, 36 to 31 for PWD. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

In 2022, the closing rank for B.Tech. under general category for all India quota was 303. In 2023, it decreased to 279. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 138 to 160 for OBC, 85 to 92 for SC, 39 to 32 for ST, 52 to 54 for EWS, 17 to 30 for PWD. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

Opening and Closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For general category under All India, opening rank was 261 and closing rank was 279. Cut off are differant when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. Admission to B.Tech. (Hons.) in Computer Science and Engineering in IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute of Technology is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam JEE Advanced. Applicants are advised to confirm what category are they applying while checking for cut offs.
