YCMOU has now started to adapt to the digital world and has initiated its plan to reach out to the new generation of students. The plan is to put YCMOU study material online to deal with the shortage of hard copies and to facilitate ease of use. Yashwantrao Chavan Open University consists of around seven regional centres located in Aurangabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Kolhapur and Nanded. The purpose of a regional centre is simply for administration work. All the students cannot go to the main YCMOU campus for everything. Hence, regional centres have been set up all over Maharashtra to conduct offline admissions and query resolving among others.

Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University or YCMOU is one of the best open universities not only of Maharashtra but also in India. The infrastructure of university is good and is built in such a way so as to support the easy learning of the students.At present, the university offers more than 50 UG, PG, doctorate, Diploma and Certificate programmes across multiple streams (in the distance education mode). The Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University has discontinued its Certificate Programme in Human Rights from April 2023. However, a candidate can check the other certificate courses offered by the university that can be done after completing BA from Maharashtra or any other state. No, BA in Social Science is not available at Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University. YCMOU provides a BA Programme in the Arts stream. Admission to all the BA courses are based on the performance of candidates in the Class 12 exams. The specializations in which BA is offered are Mass Communication & Journalism, and others. Maharashtra University of Health Science (MUHS) offers various courses. Admission to these courses is done through entrance exams or merit-based.
