No, Thapar University doesn't have the provision of direct admission for its BSc courses. Admission to these courses is based on candidates' performance in the Online Test, followed by a Letter Of Recommendation (LOR)/ Statement of Purpose (SOP), Class 12 marks and Personal Interview. Admission to the BSc programmes in Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology is entrance-based. The entrance exam is conducted in online mode by the institute or deemed to be university. This online test include three main sections such as General Awareness, Aptitude and Analytical Skills, and Logical Reasoning. Candidates shortlisted based on performance in the entrance test are further called for the personal interview for final selection.

Hence, the applicant must have passed Class 12 with an aggregate of 60% (55% for SC/ST students) Or a three-year Diploma in the relevant stream. Moreover, the university may relax requirements for candidates with extraordinary achievements in the areas of sports, Music, Dance and Painting, Social Work, Software Development, etc. with passing marks in Class 12.
