The various proficiency tests in the English language accepted by Iowa State University are TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System), Duolingo English Test 1   (DET), and PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic), where each has minimum score requirements to be achieved for admission.

Students can find on campus jobs on the student job portal and they are allowed to work for 20 hours per week. Westminster College can be considered a moderately competitive college. It has an acceptance rate of 70%. Students that get into Westminster have an average SAT score between 1150-1370 or an average ACT score of 23-29. Submitting standardized test scores is not mandatory, but having a good score can increase the chance of getting scholarships. International students are required to submit English proficiency test scores. Letters of recommendation are optional. It is not overly difficult to get admission.
