After applying for SMS Varanasi BA (Hons) students must appear for the SMSOET exam on the scheduled date. Once the exam results are announced, the university commences with the admission counselling. In order to participate in the counselling, candidates must upload various documents. After that, they are required to participate in the subsequent counselling process. During the counselling, the BCom seats are allocated based on the candidate's performance in the accepted entrance exam.

The university offers lateral entry to some of the BTech specialisations, such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc. The eligibility criteria to get admission into these courses is candidates must secure a minimum of 55% marks in a three-year Diploma recognised by the board of technical education in an appropriate branch of engineering/ BSc (PCM) with a minimum of 60% marks in the subjects taken together.

The eligibility criteria for admissions to BTech courses at Sanskriti University include, that candidates must complete their bachelor's degree with a minimum of 45-50% aggregate (5% relaxation for reserves categories). Additionally, candidates must have completed their higher senior secondary with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects and Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects/ Computer Science, etc., as additional subjects. These additional subjects can vary according to the specialisation selected by the students. Moreover, for admissions, the university gives preferences to JEE Mains/ SEEE/ CUET UG scores.

No, admission SMS Varanasi UG courses, including BA (Hons), are only entrance-based. The institute conducts its in-house entrance exam, i.e., SMSOET, for the admission of candidates. Apart from that, students must also fulfill the course-specific eligibility criteria. For BA (Hons), students must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board of India.
