PhD students at GBPUAT are open to fellowship. Two fellowships in each discipline are to be awarded at INR 6,000 per month based on merit to the eligible students admitted in the discipline for 36 months. If the total number of fellowships thus provided are not utilised due to any valid reasons whatsoever, the university shall be free to redistribute the allocation of the vacant fellowship position and award the same to other students who could not be granted fellowship in the first instance due to theaforesaid restriction of two fellowships in each discipline.

GBPUAT offers admission based on entrance exam score for most of the UG, PG and PhD courses. Patnanagar University conducts GBPUAT entrance exam for various UG and PG courses such as MSc, BSc, etc. The university conducts separate exams for UG, PG and MCA programme.
