No, admission to UG and PG courses at SMS Varanasi is only entrance-based. The institute conducts its in-house entrance exam, i.e., SMS OET for the selection of candidates in UG and PG courses. Apart from that, for courses such as MBA and MCA, students can also get admission through a valid score in national-level entrance exams such as CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ CUET and UPCET, respectively.

As per the NIRF 2023 Rankings, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) holds the fifth rank in the 'University' category. The University provides a great array of studies related to all areas of the humanities, social sciences, technology, medical sciences, visual arts, and performing arts by the many undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate courses.
