Columbia University shall observe a test-optional policy for first-year applicants to Columbia College or College of Engineering who will be applying for fall 2023 and 2024. Generally, the Columbia University admission process is holistic. This means that all parts of the application are considered. For selection, each applicant's academic potential, intellectual strength, and ability to think independently are considered. Other factors like the applicant's special interests and abilities, motivation, maturity, curiosity, and whether the students will be able to make productive use of four years at Columbia are also considered.

The Graduate School of Columbia does not just accept TOEFL scores but also other scores like IELTS. The English proficiency requirement can be fulfilled through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Applicants are strongly advised to take the English Proficiency Language exams early in the fall. Scores more than two years old are not accepted. Student score reports are not considered official. Both Columbia University and New York University are well-known and prestigious universities in the USA. Columbia University is a part of the Ivy League, which is considered very prestigious in the U.S. The admission rate at Columbia University is lower than NYU, there is a general perception that Columbia is more prestigious than NYU. The acceptance rate of NYU is 13% meanwhile, Columbia University's acceptance rate is 6%, according to U.S. News & World Report. If take a look at the ranking, then Columbia ranks at 22 which is higher than NYU's ranking i.e. 39. Overall, Columbia University is better than NYU.

According to US News & World Report ranking 2023,  Columbia University world ranking is among the top 10 universities in the world. Currently, the university ranks 7th in the world. The current ranking of the university is improved from 6th in 2022. According to QS and Times Higher Education ranking, Columbia University QS ranking is 22 and THE ranking is 11 respectively in the world.

Studying in LPU is much better because of its Ranking, education, placement, generation and infrastructure in each component LPU is better.
