Commerce is a field which students who have an interest in the field of financial information/transactions, trading of economic value, etc. Often consider taking up after completing 10+2. Students who are looking forward to pursuing a career in Commerce have a wide range of choices before them. Candidates can pursue the Commerce course at the undergraduate (UG), postgraduate PG Diploma levels as well as at the doctoral level. UG level Commerce courses offered to aspirants include B.Com BBA CA CS BBA LL.B. M. B.Sc. Etc. At the PG level, popular Commerce programs are M.Com MBA, M.Phil M.Sc. Etc. Among Commerce courses, students can consider selecting from specialised fields such as accounting and finance, banking and finance, accounting and taxation, actuarial Science, business administration, applied economics, e-commerce, financial accounting, banking and insurance, human resources, entrepreneurship, accounting and auditing, etc. Some functions performed by commerce graduates (and the work profiles they get in jobs) are accounting, auditing, corporate restructuring, foreign collaborations and joint ventures, finance, taxation, tax consulting, secretarial and corporate governance arbitration and conciliation, financial management, project planning, capital market and investor relations, corporate advisory services, Cost and Management Accountants (earlier referred to as Cost and Works Accountants) are responsible for budgeting, cost management, performance evaluation and asset management within a company or organisation. Commerce grads if add some more skills get to work in: Financial Planning/Consulting, Financial Analyst, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Private Equity and Venture Capital, Risk Management, Wealth Management, Stockbroking etc. You can also try the Bank PO examinations after graduation in any stream, although degrees such as B.Com BBA Economics can be advantageous. Some popular exams for the Bank PO position include, SBI PO Exam, IBPS PO Exam, ICICI Bank-PO Exam, Axis Bank-PO Exam, HDFC Bank-PO Exam, etc. Lastly, there is one more field which has immense scope and that is statistics

Commerce side is that side which avails 1000s of options, like professional courses, Bachelor & master courses, etc. These courses can be started by anybody, anytime, there is no connection with the gap which you had given. You can pursue any course, which is of your interest. Most likely courses are:
1. B.Com
2. CA
3. CS
4. CMA
5. BANKING etc. Other courses are:
B.E. BHM Interior Designing, BCA Acturial, LL.B. CFA M.Com BBA MBA, BSW etc. CA and CFA are the best professional courses from commerce side as there is demand for the both. There are limited number of CAs and CFAs. CFA is that course where you will learn about finance and its management. It is that course which will give you the opportunity to stand in lacs and crores. And CA is that course which is the combination of most of the course's subjects like Financial Management, Audit, Tax, Accounts, Strategic Management, etc. These all are the combination like, some is one of the subject of MBA, FM is of CFA etc. However, you should keep in mind that whatever the course you select, you must need to work hard to gain the opportunities in the life. All courses are best, anyone you can opt but it should be of your interest. Because the course not of your interest will depressed you in the future and your time will also get wasted. So choose that career which is of your interest and must work hard for any course you may opt.
