It is Integrated Communication Design because it doesn't only include the design side of communication. The programme looks at what the future entails for communication and thus aims to create all-rounder designers who make impactful designs. Special emphasis is given to the medium of films and harnessing the benefits of technology. The tenants of the programme are:
Data Literacy: You must have heard about the new data boom and how economists working with data have been producing quality work and earning soaring salaries. Well, even designers work with data and can do better than others. Word-sense making: By understanding how to use words through courses like creative writing, tone, and voice vernacular, you'll be an all-rounder communication designer who doesn't need a copywriter to think of brilliant campaigns. Critical Thinking: Designers do not just design, they are problem solvers and that needs critical thinking. By introducing you to courses that require you to develop extraordinary, innovative, and unconventional thinking, you'll be able to match industry standards and think beyond the obvious. Visual Craft and Storytelling: This component of the programme focuses on improving your skills in design whether it is graphics, photography, films, or hand drawings. From the foundation year to the end of your programme, there are several courses geared to improve your visual sense. Filmography: The strongest form of storytelling, campaigning and communication is indeed films. Through courses like film appreciation and film production, you'll end up becoming a filmmaker by the time you graduate. In fact, we have a semester dedicated to refining your skills in films.
