Company Secretary is a professional course which is managed by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). The Institute of Company Secretaries runs two programs. For the Executive programme minimum requirement is graduation in any subject from a recognised university. For Foundation Program, the minimum requirement is 10 + 2 again in any discipline.The candidates who wish to become Company Secretary should clear three levels of CS course and the concerning exams. The course includes three stages of study- Foundation program, Executive program, and Professional program. The candidate will also have to pursue a practical training after qualifying the second stage. The candidate who wishes to join Company Secretary Course after graduation can enter directly to the executive programme and join the professional programme and a practical training.The admission process for company secretary course is open to all eligible candidates and exams are carried out in order to select candidates. The exam will he held during June and December each year for all three levels. The Company Secretary courses include subjects like Economics, Statistics, Advanced Tax, and Accounting, for which basic knowledge of mathematics and statistics is required. The Company Secretary (CS) course is divided into three levels  - Foundation, Executive, and Professional. There are four core subjects in the Company Secretary Foundation course. The Executive programme has two core modules and the Company Secretary Professional level has three modules. A Company Secretary's responsibilities include advising the board and ensuring that the company is legally compliant.A secretary should have a comprehensive understanding of the governance framework and ensure that policies and processes are documented. There has been an increase in calls for transparency in corporate governance, and the company secretary plays an important role in this.

Any student who aspires to become a certified Company Secretary must fulfil the given eligibility criteria to pursue the CS course in Bangalore:The minimum qualification required to register for the first level  (Foundation Programme or CSEET) of the Company Secretary course is to pass Class 12 in any stream  (excluding Fine Arts) from a recognised university or equivalent.The candidate who wishes to pursue CS after graduation will have to complete only two levels: Executive Programme and Professional Programme.Those who have completed graduation, post-graduation (excluding Fine Arts),  or have cleared Foundation level of CA and Cost Accounting course by ICWAI can directly take admission to CS Executive level.
