You have following options to become a software engineer:
(a) B.Tech CS/ IT
(b) BCA-MCA,
(c) B.Sc-M.Sc CS/IT.
(d) Diploma in Computer Science from a polytechnics
(e) Computer courses
There is only subtle difference between CSE, IT and SE. IT Industry accepts all three to start career as Software Developer. Majority of institutes offer o work as software engineer. B.Tech CSE and it the most accepted degree

It depends on your interest only. Software engineering course is available as an undergraduate degree also. It is primarily the study of the software, coding, programming, etc. You can directly do that and you can easily succeed if you are good in coding and basics. You also need creativity and innovation for more advanced coding.
In case of CSE, it focuses on all aspects of computers like computer architecture, data analytics and coding. So you may opt for anything according to your interest.

Following options are available for any graduate to become software engineer after graduation degree if candidate had Maths as subject in 10+2:
(a) MCA
(b) M.Sc CS or M.Sc IT
Any engineering graduate can appear in GATE examination and do M.Tech Computer Science to become a software engineer.
